"Hello, and welcome to YourHistoryHere, the place where you can share your knowledge about those unusual places, buildings or things that make places interesting to live. This site is on limited circulation at the moment, and is only supposed to be a mySociety demo, not a big posh project like PledgeBank. It may not be obvious, but the most important feature of YourHistoryHere is the construction of an underlying system for collecting and sharing geographic annotations in an open syndicated format, so you can use the yummy local data people leave for your own purposes. We're building two sites that show how this can be useful, this one and Placeopedia.com, and we'd love to share the code for other ideas. Anyone want to build WhereIHadMyFirstKiss.com? Carol Slater replies: Old Coach Rd rings a bell but not the park. I lived in Parkhall St as a young kid (early60's) before our building was compulsory purchased to make way for development. It was next to the railway cut where the steam train would draw in for the night. The cut was filled in and all traces of the Victorian Tennement, with the Tam O'shanter heads either side of one of the doors, was demolished.
Before we left I remember a TV crew from the 1 O'clock show?? came to film the waterpump at the side of the building, and maybe other details I don't know...
I'd love to know the history of that building and those surrounding it.

The Simpson family and their 20+ kids over the stone railway bridge. Did they really do a Clarks shoe advert with all their shod feet photographed in a row?

Nick Jones replies: Carol

I was born in 1969 and brought up for my first six years on Old Coach Road, so the playground is that vintage.

I recall my parents talking about the Simpson family!

Cheers
